We'll Beat It!

So, Centennial Idol update: the first week was my best week (Pop/Rock week). I sang Rolling in the Deep by Adele, which is my favorite song of hers ever (besides Make You Feel my Love). It was a very difficult song to pull off, but I managed to do it. I got a lot of cheers, hugs, and votes! At the end, I blew a kiss for fun, and all my guy friends were asking, "Was that for me?" I said "yes" to every single one of them because......yeah, you know. People I never even knew walked up to me and told me how good I did. It was so legit. People were dancing and singing along.

Week 2 was Beatles Week. My friend Colson had asked in advance to get my next song dedicated to him, but I really didn't know what to do. So, I told him "yes" before I even chose my song. My original plan was to do I Wanna Hold Your Hand, but when we drew our songs, someone else chose it, so I had to go with Eight Days a Week. Colson had no idea what the song even was until the day before the performance! But I did it, and my friend Jackson (the student body historian who was hosting) asked me who I was dedicating it to. I surprised everyone (except a few people) and told her (yeah, Jackson's a girl. Get over it!) that it was for Colson. Everyone oohed and cheered, but some people were very shocked (including my parents). All the boys were quite amused (and a few were jealous), knowing that we planned the whole thing. But Colson enjoyed all the attention he was getting, and that got me into the next round. At the end of the performance, Jackson surprised all of the contestants by asking us to do western cowboy dances (will explain later). I had no idea what to do, so I just kind of galloped around up there and pretended to rope some steer. The audience (mainly my parents) died laughing. I swear, I looked so stupid up there! But oh well.

Today was Country Round, and if you know me well, I hate country music with a freaking passion! Let me rephrase that: I like some Taylor Swift (not the overplayed songs), Carrie Underwood, and If I Die Young by The Band Perry. That is actually one of my favorite songs. So, on Monday, when my friend McCall and I were choosing our songs, we both wanted to do that one. But we had a drawing, and I got first choice, and I picked that song. McCall was stuck doing Stuck Like Glue by Sugarland (I could go into my feelings about Sugarland but I won't). But she was nice about it, and we wished each other good luck. She had to go first, and the tech crew messed up her mic and her music, plus, she was very nervous. But because she is incredible, she pulled it off and did a legit job on it. (McCall, if you ever read this, you did fantastic, even though it was really hard.) When the time came for me to sing, I almost died. But once I started singing, I did pretty well. But there wasn't any singing or dancing or cheering or kiss blowing in the middle of the song. I guess that's what I get for doing a slower, more emotional song as opposed to my last 2. I felt that it wasn't my best, but my friends told me otherwise: a lot of them liked it the most!

Voting is done by filling out ballots, and contestants can vote for themselves, which is what most of them do. However, today was not the case. At the end of the assembly, McCall hugged me and told me how well I did. I did the same. Then, she surprised me. She said, "Miriam, because you did so good, I will vote for you!" I cannot express how sweet that was of her to do! I did the same for her. I am so glad that McCall and I are friends, and not only is she an amazing singer, she is one of the nicest girls on this planet.

And guess who made the top 4 for Michael Jackson week?
That's right. This girl and the lovely McCall Rash!

PS. Seussical is this weekend! I'm gonna die.

One Direction Infection!

So, who is One Direction, you might ask? Well, they are my 5 favorite things!
Zayn Malik: Thing 5
Niall Horan: Thing 4
Harry Styles: Thing 3
Liam Payne: Thing 2
Louis Tomlinson: Thing 1

speaking of things....... this is the best thing ever! They most definitely have that "One Thing!" The acoustic version is my favorite video of theirs. EVER. Liam's harmony, Niall's solo, and the lyrics are just amazing.
So, this is why I like One Direction: their songs have good lyrics, they're clean, they are all great singers, they are good boys, and they are all very attractive! Niall Horan and Liam Payne are my favorites, but I love them all. So, here's a few of my favorite quotes:
from "More Than This"- Niall's solo. My favorite part: If I'm louder, would you see me?
and a few pics!
 Liam and Niall

One Direction is not just another boy band. They are talent. If the first video didn't prove it to you, then too bad! I love them sooooooo much, and they light up my world like nobody else!

spring break

This spring break was a great week! I might have not done much because I stayed home, but let me tell you, it was soooooooooooo fun!
So..... I did the following: went to dixon. went to yogurtland with my friend Hana. Saw Hunger Games again with my madre! Went to the temple. Went to City Creek up in Salt Lake. Went to the zoo. hung out with my family. Hung out with Raquel. listened to One Direction. tennis.
(okay, that picture is of Niall Horan and Liam Payne of One Direction playing tennis, but oh well. I am not a very photogenic tennis girl!)

So, the main highlight of this week was Raquel, who I last posted about. Oh, and One Direction (post to come). But up in Salt Lake, a new shopping center called City Creek opened and it is sooooo incredible! The Forever 21 and H&M are my favorites there. But since I spent all my money on the 1D album (which was worth it). We did have to wait like a half hour just to go to Kneaders, but it was totally worth it! The food is sooooooo good.
 sorry about the sideways men....

what a great view! we also went to the Hogle Zoo that day. a lot of my Wendelboe cousins were there because we wanted to give Grandpa Wendelboe a good birthday present. It was so fun to be with my family, but it was sooooooo cold! also, I only slept like 4 hours that night. But at least I had the One Direction CD in the car to make me happy! My favorite part was Kollin the Peacock (named after one of my legit friends. He can not draw a good peacock! They all look like chickens.) I also liked the falcon.
 elephant

 Justin and Zachary the alligator

Grandpa and some of the kids
Wesley finally emerged from his shell

sorry my picture of Kollin isn't that great. but peacocks are beautiful. I had a lovely time this spring break!

Baptisms and Easter

I feel kind of guilty for not talking about my own brother's baptism a year ago. Justin, I love your guts. but I will talk about Savannah's.
So, Savannah, my little twin, got baptized yesterday! She looks like she's 10. (My mom's brother, Taylor's girl.) I am so proud of her! It was a great baptism, except the font people forgot to fill the font. and Justin just had to play in his soccer game, so we let him. and the pianist didn't show up, so guess who had to play? that's right. I had to sight read everything. I did okay, but I never ever ever want to do that again! While Savannah was getting dried off, Torben (her 4 year old brother who I love) was sitting on my lap. we were watching a video about Jesus. it was super quiet, and right as it showed Jesus getting nailed to the cross, Torben says, "They nailed him, right?" Gotta love him. Both Banna and Torbies went to my Centennial Idol performance last Friday, and it made everything like 500 times better. I made it to the next round! I love my Wendelboe cousins. Congrats, Banna! I love you!

Wes, Tor, and our cousin Orion

today was Easter Sunday. we dyed eggs on Conference Weekend, and they all turned out pretty crappy. but hey, they're just eggs. I hid the eggs outside last night, and we were supposed to have a hunt for them. but my stinker brothers decided to wake up at 7, and I like my sleep. (we have 11:00 church.) they found all the eggs before I was even up! so, no candy for me! but my parents are so nice that they will give me all the leftovers they didn't stuff inside the eggs. We had waffles for breakfast, I wore my new Easter dress, and I curled my hair. We always try to match in our family, but it never works. Wesley feels strongly about only wearing long sleeved shirts in fear of getting sunburned (okay okay, swimming and soccer don't count!), and Justin likes green. All the dresses at Down East were large, so the only small ones they had made me look like an elephant. but I finally found a super cute one! so, after church, our adorable family took pictures in our dead lawn.
 the men
mom and her boys. Justin's face=classic.

 oh yeah. we're cute.
 like mother, like daughter
sometimes I'm jealous of my parents. no one can ever have kids as cool as theirs!

after we took pictures, we ventured on up to our grandparents (Wendelboe's) for dinner. Mom made lemon bars for dessert. I am addicted to them! we all played games afterward, and it was so fun. I love my family, and I love my Savior. Happy Easter!

anorexic poles are beautiful, and so is David Archuleta.

"It's been a really really messed up week, seven days of torture, seven days of bitter." -Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae.
Both of my brothers obsess over that song. Wesley sang it at his school singing competition, and Justin is Mr. Shy, but he sings it all the time at home. but really, it has. Killer play practices, teenage drama, math, etc. but spring break came and relieved me!
my friend Raquel and I have wanted to go to the temple for a long time, but because I have play practice every single day, it didn't work. but yesterday, she texted me, and we went! It was very spiritual, and hardly anyone was there! (because spring break is really get the heck out of Provo week!) but this brother and sister in front of us did family names, and they took forever! we were glad to get done! but we love to do baptisms for the dead, and I love the Provo temple!

going to the temple is an LDS/Mormon thing, and it's very common in Provo/Happy Valley/Mormonville. right across the street from the temple is the MTC (missionary training center). and guess who else is a Mormon? DAVID ARCHULETA!!! while watching LDS General Conference last weekend, David Archuleta was in the missionary choir. it was so cool! Raquel and I love him, so we tried to kidnap him. after sitting outside the MTC for a freaking half hour, we gave up. he never came. we even prayed for him to come out!
what else is there to do after the temple? we started to walk. at the corner of the traffic light, we found a pole and named him Roger. because we are dorks, we danced around Roger, sang One Direction to him, and flirted with him for like 20 minutes. everyone was staring. but it's Provo. who cares? of course you'll see teenagers in their church clothes serenading poles! oh gosh, we are crazy. then, we kept walking and snuck into an old people's gated community and punched their trees that had faces on them. my tree's nose came off. and we had to talk to every pole we saw! and we met horses, gave them carrots, sang more One Direction, and made fun of healthy dessert blogs!
stop signs: anorexic poles, wood: crap poles, street signs: more anorexic poles.
Oh Raquel, that was such a fun day. it started out very spiritual, and it ended up at my house eating cream puffs. I love you! You light up my world like nobody else! (except maybe Roger the pole).

PS. My new playlist has What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction on it. it is such a great song: it's catchy, the lyrics are beautiful, and every girl should listen to it. and they are all verrrry attractive! the lyrics are:
[Verse 1]
You're insecure,
Don't know what for,
You're turning heads when you walk through the door,
Don't need make-up,
To cover up,
Being the way that you are is enough,

[Bridge]
Everyone else in the room can see it,
Everyone else but you,

[Chorus]
Baby you light up my world like nobody else,
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed,
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
If only you saw what I can see,
You'll understand why I want you so desperately,
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
Oh oh,
That's what makes you beautiful

[Verse 2]
So girl come on,
You got it wrong,
To prove I'm right,
I put it in a song,
I don't know why,
You're being shy,
And turn away when I look into your eye eye eyes,

[Bridge]
Everyone else in the room can see it,
Everyone else but you,

[Chorus]
Baby you light up my world like nobody else,
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed,
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
If only you saw what I can see,
You'll understand why I want you so desperately,
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
Oh oh,
That's what makes you beautiful

Na Na Na Na Na Na Naaa,
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na [x2]
[Middle 8]
Baby you light up my world like nobody else,
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed,
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,

[Chorus]
Baby you light up my world like nobody else,
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed,
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful
If only you saw what I can see,
You'll understand why I want you so desperately
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
Oh oh,
That's what makes you beautiful

my favorite is probably Liam Payne. Or maybe Harry Styles..... I love them all.
